About the art
Artist statement
Geometric 39a4c is an abstraction of the reflections of a mirrored cube with one corner sliced off, on the rug on which it sat, in a design store window. There are several versions of the main image (Geometric 39), each of which is limited to 3 prints for each version. In this version (39a4c), I have darkened the very light shadows of the main image considerably, especially central ones which I have rendered in opaque blue-green, giving a very solid look to the central shadows - this is meant to suggest the Monolith from the movie “2001”, and I want the lighter shadows surrounding it to appear as waves emanating from the monolith.
