Artist statement
A Dyad is a set of two musical notes or pitches, seen here by the artist as two syllables, twin portraits of two beats in a bar, two words in a song, or perhaps, a question asked and an answer. Each brushstroke element exhausts the paint from a fanfare beginning that ends as an undertone. 1 To 1 Two - (Dyad #2) is the second of a series of Dyad paintings using thick paint made from Indigo pigment and acrylic gesso. The background is a pale field predominantly of magenta and cyan which are the two component colours that when mixed produce indigo.
