Artist statement
Number 4 in a series of double brush-stoke inspired intaglio prints.
The pair of marks are imagined fluidly and variously as cutting blades, cut fragments, as syllables and elements from a melody. The nocturne Carmine Parings is a two plate print, the carmine printed second over a warm transparent black. Employing copper-plate printing techniques using card plates, carborundum powders and modelling paste, the work is made, and the edition printed in the artist’s studio.
