Artist statement
This painting is part of the series "The Thousand and One Nights" that is inspired by cities Khalid visited and hopes to visit again and stay there for longer times.
He named the painting after the beautiful town Lerici in northern Italy which belongs to the Italian Riviera. It is known as the place where the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley drowned.
He made the painting in June 2021. The medium is oil on canvas of size 47x71 inches (120x180 cm).
He has signed it on the front. The stretched canvas is staple free sides, wired on the back and with no need for framing. It's ready to hang.
