Artist statement
The first piece in the Alchemy series begins by exploring the foundational building block of all human beings and Life at large… DNA. In this piece, black and white speak to the duality that can be found in all of existence. The back and forth play between these forces drives forward the spiral of life which centers itself around the axis of Spirit. Through this spiral, fragments of the four elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water are gathered and arranged into repeating patterns that create the physical bodies we see and inhabit. The motif set forth by this piece is an integral part of the entire series.
