Li Tao’s use of aluminium and steel inevitably brings to mind about Brutalist architectural style that prevailed during the 1950s, in which a more simplistic, egalitarian and utilitarian aesthetics was achieved by reducing the architectural body to minimalist decoration and colour. Li Tao’s works seem to have inherited this aesthetics by removing the excessive complexity that leads to distraction of attention and striving for visual simplification.
