Artist statement
Martians About to Land on Disappearing Island is a large original abstract acrylic painting on panel by artist Marlene Struss, protected with satin polymer varnish, signed, wired, cradled in stained wood and ready to hang in your home or office. In this painting we see an array of small islets in the spotlight of the spaceship of visitors from another planet who have come to view the remains of Earth after the melting ice has caused much of the land to disappear. There is a stark poignant beauty in the parched lifeless fragments glowing in the artificial light struggling to hold together by shear sheer will and wisps of earth.
