Artist statement
Temple of Tumult is a large original abstract acrylic painting on panel by artist Marlene Struss, protected with satin polymer varnish, signed, wired, cradled in stained wood and ready to hang in your home or office. Temple of Tumult is a psychological painting depicting a mind with swirling thoughts, dreams, and ideas but with a calm center. Overlapping biomorphic shapes reminiscent of birds and animals, natural terrains, clouds, and manmade ruins suggest different events and places happening or manifesting all at the same time. A small figure in the vortex of the dynamic vision stands resolutely at the edge of an ocean suggesting faith and hope against a background of uncertainty.
