Inspiration
This wall ceramic sculpture is part of my Closed Sculpture Series. It explores combined forms that enclose space.
The inspiration was process-driven as I was investigating combining thrown sphere forms that were thrown on the potter's wheel. I then applied a gradient of colour from blue to red with white dots to make the form pop out and invite a lively curiosity. The more I look at this wall sculpture the more it reminds me of a mushroom from the Mario computer game so that is why I decided to call this artwork "Mushroom Power"
This ceramic wall sculpture is set inside a wooden gold frame to create a contrast between this modern ceramic form and this classical frame. Together they look surreal and dream-like and computer game-like. The artwork takes on a funky look and personally makes me laugh! I hope it can bring some fun into your lifestyle.
