Artist statement
Mama, I'm coming home, oil on canvas, is inspired by the longing for home, which is a recurrant idea in Melinda's work. There is a circular phenomenon as we come back to the place we left before. Melinda says: "The idea of homecoming is represented beautifully in the book of Paulo Coelho titled "The alchemist" where the hero leaves home for seeking the treasure and after many years of adversity and hardship he finds it at the very place he left. The feeling of insecurity while being away from home and at the same time the hope of returning back is the subject matter in the painting.
