Artist statement
Illumination Last Rays of the Day by Meredith Howse is inspired by the awe-inspiring beauty of the sky colour of a distant summer storm. Capturing nature, particularly the grandeur and majesty of towering trees. The artist uses a palette of pinks, blues, greys, dark greens, and gum tree blues to bring the scenes to life.
Each painting in the Illumination series is a unique piece of art. The picturesque colours and careful brushstrokes convey a sense of calm before the storm, simulating the intensity of the lightning which lights up the sky.
