Artist Statement:
"This image is part of a series where I photographed the stages of wayang performances in Singapore. They are photographed with my large format camera, at very slow shutter speed rendering the performances absent. The 'empty' stage is framed the traditional yet kitsch aesthetic of today's customary practices. The setting of the concrete heartland architecture surrounds it as exterior frame to the stage. This piece is a response to Hiroshi Sugimoto's "Theaters"."
