Artist statement
Through rhythm, geometrical consequence and uncompromising order Monika Janus pursues a goal of compositional equilibrium.
The chosen technique allows it to keep closed rhythmical repetitive sequence. Reinterpretation of a traditionally pleated zig-zag fold is broadening its geometrical potential and giving it new ability to transform into complementary figures other than a circle.
The composition is introducing a new type of tension in which we can observe the interaction between the uncompromising geometry and the freedom of artistic expression.
