About the art
Artist statement
This old wooden window shutter was found on the beach, most likely it came from an old wooden Thai fishing boat... After drying it in the sun for a month, removing all the rusty hinges and latches, it was carefully sanded as not to disturb the unique 'patina' of old paint. Some holes had to be filled, and some of the color to be adjusted.
This is about my 10th wooden shutter I have done. This one already had a wonderful paint job, so the colors for the actual painting(s) had to match ad support the frame. This wasn't that easy and it took about 7 layers of slightly different shades to compliment the old paint job. The actual composition is quite simple, almost minimal. The moon has some of the waves from the bottom part. This was the last brush stroke before varnishig.
