About the art
Artist statement
It looks like an offset linocut print, so I decided to call it Mauve Relief.
This mixed media piece combines many of my ongoing artistic explorations: the influence of Japanese tapestries and chinoiserie, Australian nature and silhouettes, the simplification of shapes and forms and a muted palette of pinks and teals that you see me using a lot these days.
I used a lot of different mediums to get this result, including watercolour, acrylic inks and gouache. The edges are hand torn as in the pictures.
It comes flat on a rigid envelope.
