Artist statement
When an object no longer serves its intended purpose, it is thrown away...generally.
I like to think that an object can have another chance, perhaps by changing its destination, adding and giving it a new life!
This canvas was cut on its side , I was about to throw it away years ago, in fact at that time I did not even use canvases but preferred to use wooden panel,
I take great care in searching for the best materials for my works to present to my collectors or at exhibitions and it is a fundamental aspect for me, I am very strict in this!
But I didn't throw it away I put it there...and accomplice to my disorder it remained in that corner of my studio hidden among the other canvases.
Some time later I saw it and I liked its size and I liked the idea of giving it life again, of not wasting it.
So I tried to mend it and I wanted to create some scars, I wanted it to show the wound...
This is because the theme I am tackling is precisely this, to seize the moment, to enjoy all the things that life offers us, even wounds, because they remind us of the pain we have experienced.
I chose for this work a subject a teapot finely embellished with gold-coloured embroidery to create a contrast with the coarsely stitched canvas as a reminder that life can be precious even after pain.
this work is the 15th in this series, it is painted with the technique of oil colour on canvas, its size is 40x80 cm
I finished painting the work in April 2021.
The work is designed without a frame, it will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity
for shipment outside the EU it is necessary to wait for authorisation from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and this may cause a delay of a few days
