About the art
Artist statement
A waka poem from the 4th volume of the Man'yoshu, "Secret Love." The author is Otomo no Yakamochi. I try to reconstruct the feelings of the poet by extracting them from ancient calligraphy copied by people of the Heian period. The paper used is the highest quality washi paper made with gampi and kozo.
