Artist statement
Since 2017 I started doing experiments with a simple tool that is available in PS since version 4 (that I remember), the finger tool, wich allowed me to make beautiful lines or strokes/tags, streching multiple colours that show up or remain hidenn as the strokes moves forward, giving the illution of 3d space. This is a very simple process even used outside digital world, such as the industry to produce extrusion materials like steel, plastic, wood and aluminium frames, etc.
This work is from the “strokes” series and arises from a gesture made by hand with software tools. The gesture is based on a series of colors that are transposed onto the 2D plane, but as they remain fixed on their original pattern, they give the optical sensation of movement in three dimensions.
These paintings make me think of stylized graffiti, an hypertag. The tags you see on the streets, taken to the extreme of stylization.
