About the art
Artist statement
Synaesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. Thus one may see very specific colours when listening to certain musical chords, or when seeing numbers on paper. This abstract image reminds me of musical scales being perceived in color and space. This is why this had to be the title of this work.
Actually, it is a very colourful school building in Amsterdam. Not being able to enter the school property I endlessly looked for the right angle to frame the multitude of colours on the facade. It was most intriguing to see that one wing of the school was being reflected in another, so the colours and lines were intersecting and mixing with one another (without any Photoshop manipulation).
This is a ready to hang artwork. It is a photographic print on high-quality paper behind plexiglass (Diasec) in museum quality finish. The plexiglass provides remarkable depth and brilliance to the artwork. For extra stability, it has an aluminium Dibond back panel and a hidden wall mount frame.
Medium size limited edition of 8, personally signed and certified.
