About the art
Artist statement
This painting was inspired by my winter walks across the freezing moorlands up in the lonely heights in the Isle of Man. The ground underfoot was frozen hard and I had to walk with care. There was such richness of colour intensified by the clarity of the air, but ahead the mist was descending, shrouding the hill in mystery. The experience settled into my spirit with profound impact, so I committed it to canvas! It was my desire to give the viewer an opportunity to make their own way across this beautiful landscape each time they view the painting.
