Artist statement
Dragonfly in my garden
Every afternoon when I come home from school, I invite my friends to the field behind the house to catch dragonflies. Colorful dragonflies flutter around, sometimes with tired wings, perching on the thin branches to rest. All form a poetic scene in the poor countryside when the afternoon falls.
My grandmother said that dragonflies can predict the weather. That's why there is an old saying "Dragonflies fly low, it rains, flies high, it's sunny, when it's medium, it's shady". I like dragonflies because of its variety, its beautiful wings, and its mischievous eyes. However, my favorite is the damselfly, it is slender but never weak.
The image of dragonflies has become familiar and attached to my memory. Looking at the dragonflies fluttering in the afternoon sun, I see more and more how beautiful my hometown is.
