About the art
Artist statement
When Coronavirus hit, I felt helpless.
I had brought home piles of sheets of c-print flower photograms from my studio, and I started making small mixed flower collages, referring back to the small mixed flower posies that people used to carry in order to fend off illness before germ theory was understood. My Posies are collaged and then mounted on laser-cut plexiglass (something we now associate with our own protection in stores today), so that they appear to float off the wall.
While these Posies won’t ward off illness, I hope that this small amount of photo-based flower magic brings some much needed calm and beauty during this weird time.
