About the art
Artist statement
This abstract mixed media / drawing on paper was inspired by the Ganesh festival. Lord Ganesh the Hindu deity represented by an elephant headed form, features strongly for Indians, but not exclusively, and is considered auspicious, bringing good fortune while removing all obstacles. This Ganesh is playful, joyful and bursting full of energy and movement.
I am of Indian origin and it is rare for me to depict traditional Indian themes, perhaps that is why it was abstracted subconsciously.
I have used graphite, acrylic, wash, coffee on paper. This is a precursor artwork to the larger Ganesh, shown here alongside.
As I was creating it, there was a real playful element which was coming through me, as if Ganesh was dancing on the paper, quite an extraordinary feeling and it brought me much joy in creating it! I hope it will bring joy into your home!
Thé artwork is un framed and I would recommend a float mount.
