WHO AM I? A Series of Waterless Lithographs


The Who Am I? series of works stem from a personal quest of searching for the essence of my identity. Being born on one continent, raised in another, born to one set of parents, raised by others caused much confusion along with a questioning of my identity.

Where were my roots? And Who Am I?

My parents’ roots too had been lost due to Partition – and so this internal emotional unrest, with a quest to find a satisfying answer to the existential question began and I have explored it through my art and I continue to do so.

Here in these works I portray the different masks we wear to fit into the different roles we play as parents, spouses, preachers, teachers, friends, lovers etc. Each role carries its own mask and each is a valid aspect of our greater whole, all these parts and more are facets of our whole being.

I soon came to realise it is a question which many of ask as some point in our lives.

Who Are We Really?

Who Am I? Blues is printed on acetate and mounted with a blue/grey backing, giving it its colour. Others in the edition can be mounted with a different background 2/3 or 3/3.
Please note the acetate is a reflective surface giving it its character, adding to that the glass of the frame, makes it difficult to photograph to get the exact colour with a lot of reflection in the images.
