Artist statement
An idea of space and perception.
This painting is part of a series of paintings where Remi Delaplace thinks about the representation of space in perspective.
Here he focuses on the relationship between perspective and plane, with research around the sensation given by color.
By taking up the history of representation in the Italian theater with the stage, the front plane, the background, the frame, the event, he questions the pictorial space of the painting. How to speak frontality and perspective?
To the perspective responds the frontal plane of the painting, to the line: the color, and beyond that to the representation responds what is presented.
The practice of contact dance nourishes her relationship to space and its representation: gravity, levitation, orientation are all themes that nourish her work.
