About the art
Artist statement
An idea of space and perception.
Rémi Delaplace has been thinking for several years about the perception of space.
The Dance and Painting relationships have a common origin in the theatre. The representation, the scene, the perspective, the frame...
In this painting, Rémi DELAPLACE started from the idea, in contact improvisation dance, of touching and being touched: we are as much touched by the ground as we touch the ground. Here the material used is sheets pasted on the canvas stretched on a frame. Rémi DELAPLACE is interested in the creative process: in what appears, tears, patterns, traces are all materials that arise from improvised contact.
“My practice of painting is intimately linked to the practice of dance improvisation”
