HOL(Y))DAY : 'The perfection of fleeting moment'

Restu poses the following fundamental question: what is “real”?
Through a methodology and visual prose that blurs the edges between the
representational and the abstract, he communicates visceral set of profound
experiences contained within the simplest of occasions: a motorcycle ride through a
forest. Without caution or forewarning, Restu experiences something transcendental:
A sense that his body and mind (or spirit) are separated.
A sense that his self is intangibly yet inextricably connected to the universe.
A sense difficult to extrapolate with the written word.
Intellectually, as well as instinctively, Restu attempts to deconstruct these transient
ideas through painting. It is argued that it was in such a moment that his mind
achieved a sense of true clarity, separate from distractions present in our everyday
lives.
Although the way in which Restu arrived to his
aforementioned experiences were inextricable (for lack of a better word), the way he
attempts then deconstructs these experiences and then communicates these
experiences is very much deliberate and carefully contemplated. Each painting surface
is carefully constructed, be it through varying degrees of color, perspective,
transparency, and luster, with the intention of carefully communicating visually esoteric
ideas. Restu is both a painter and an alchemist, discovering new chemical compounds
to further express aesthetic ideas
