USHUAIA

The windswept town, perched on a steep hill, known as the southernmost city in the world and capital of the Tierra del Fuego, nicknamed the “End of the World.”

“USHUAIA” is part of a collection called "Surfaces", an exploratory and abstract exhibition that seeks to express sensations and emotions translated by textures. Arid, humidity, situations, weather, landscape, instant, objects, places, among many other things, are expressed in the collection through the superposition of layers and textures.

The best way to describe Surfaces exhibition is through the concept called “embodiment” described by Juhani Pallasmaa in an exquisite way in the following text: “All artistic effects are evoked, mediated and experienced through poeticised images. These images are embodied and lived experiences that take place in ‘the flesh of the world', becoming part of us, while we unconsciously project aspects of ourselves on to a conceived space, object or event. Artistic images have a life and reality of their own and they develop through unexpected associations rather than rational and causal logic. Images are usually thought of as retinal pictures, but profound poetic images are multi-sensory and they address us in an embodied and emotive manner”.
