About the art
Artist statement
Saori is highly regarded for her unique collage technique, which combines various approaches to paper, such as dyeing, painting, drawing, and paper cutting. Her collages have a fantastic color balance that goes beyond the expression of paint alone. This is achieved through excellent material selection and technique, including the use of traditional Japanese paper. The literary and deep concept and the bold appeal of the painting surface, finished with acrylic gouache and pastel, give a fantastic power to motifs such as animals, flowers, and people.
This work is one of the "Beauty Series," a representative recent collage art series. It was created based on the theme of the Japanese folk tale "The Gratitude of the Crane."
This work is framed in a frame selected by her. Wooden frame with acrylic board, matted.
