Artist statement
Bluebell Rising is part of an evolving series I have been working on for quite some time. I am creating an abstracted perception of light filtering / moving through elements derived from nature...delicate leaves, tangled plant inspired shapes and meshed tree branches. In person this painting appears to move and come to life - a trick of the eye and mind. I'm one of those quirky artists that sneaks "easter eggs" into work...I painted a faded target in the ground and wove the plants over it in a discreet circular pattern. A nod to Jasper Johns.
