About the art
Artist statement
During the pandemic, I was able to reflect on what's happening with the world and how that's affecting me as an artist. I stayed afloat by being honest with myself while empathizing with people's reactions, most especially online. Meaningful events are happening as I sat down -- watch people cry, get anxious, turn to plants and nature, lose loved ones, grow up, grow older, gain self-control, acknowledge bad habits, celebrate small victories, and so on -- that being an audience can be as emotional (sometimes painful) as being an active participant to events. Through this that I realized that this human experience we are all having is probably what we need to transition to a higher sense of self. As agonizing as it may be, I know it is something we need as a human race to go through. It is definitely something that I personally need to go through myself. This has given me a greater sense of interconnection towards the world and everything in it, even if I'm only able to relate through a screen.
