About the art
Artist statement
This is part of a series made using the materials of the area around Corby Glen in Lincolnshire. It is made using natural pigments and containing elements of the energy of the place. It uses the chimney soot from a wood fired chimney collected by a local chimney sweep and yellow ochre which can be found in the soil in this place. It was produced as part of a two year project investigating the relationship of the people to the place, and the saw mill and carpenters were of particular importance.
