Artist statement
Part of a series of works made using pigments that have s relationship to the South West Coast of England, this piece was made using mud rock from the jurrasic coast, a sea brick picked up from the beachh at Lyme Regis and madder and woad which were traded through the port at Lyme Regis since the 1400s at least. The sea brick is material evidence of coastal erosion as well as being a kind of orange ochre.
