In a universal language of art, I believe experience to leave a lasting impression. I have experienced sunsets in open coast of southern California, and this piece speaks about the atmospheric auras and stillness of the moments during this experience. It is infinite beauty that I want to bring to the viewers experience.
Studying light and form in architectural design, I learnt ways to manipulate light and control it entering or exiting a space, a stage set or a movie set, with psychology of color affecting mood and narrative, as well as our own physiology, as we digest and experience the spaces. In my Prism paintings and Polyhedron sculptures, I used controlled observations of light, as it passed through my sculptural forms, creating new forms, volumes and compositions, with new ‘kinetic’ possibilities. This process inspired my Chroma and Geocube series. But this can happen when both the physical and meditative worlds are given a more equal emphasis. One foot in the real quantum world of physics and reality and other in the physical manifestations through the body.
For the new solo exhibition: Revelations: Seeing Light, I have been working with a new method for creating illusionistic space using materiality, which forces illusionistic space out of my 2d and 3d works. Manifesting not only as an object, but an experience – As you move, you see the detraction of light appearing and disappearing, since things are changing as you move.
This aesthetic offers me the opportunity to slow down and to suspend time. I use calming, zen aesthetics as a response to news that throws us further into disarray—Crafting visually soothing motifs helps me bring balance to my daily life. I am manifesting my needs in creative form.(conscious or otherwise) to the compounding chaos of our time-
I CREATE CONTEMPORARY ABSTRACT AND GEOMETRIC ABSTRACT ART THAT FEATURE DYNAMIC COLOR AND MOVEMENT, INSPIRED BY A LOVE OF NATURE AND LANDSCAPE.
