Shan Jiang’s works transcend the boundary between fine art and illustration. Shan’s immaculately detailed and captivating works are the result of the artist’s constant exploration in developing visual language and style to express his personal and visual experiences.
Shan uses pen or pencil to draw first, then coloured his works digitally. In the series of "A Summer Study of Curiosity", from afar, they looks like museum archive of flora and fauna illustration, when one looks at the works closely, besides the many details, a girl is either riding on the cat, or the bird, using camera or phone taking pictures of the nature surrounding her. Interesting juxtaposition of the girl, at times wearing swimming costume, verses her natural surrounding triggers one's imagination.
