Artist statement
Table for Six is a photograph created with a variety of disposable remnant products accumulated by the artist. The shapes and forms printed on paper are a record of the artist’s current consumption patterns that has inevitably been tinted by the global COVID-19 pandemic. Of particular interest is the pervasive exhaustion of single-use items such as personal protection gear, grocery wrapping and food delivery packaging.
The life-sized imprint of consumption waste embodies the tangible consequences an individual is capable of generating, in sheer volume and at a distressing rate. The artist hopes to magnify the spirit of reviving waste material through a photograph, and extend it beyond the work. Collective consciousness of our environment starts from individual agency towards more responsible consumption habits — and that can start from tonight's dinner table.
