About the art
Artist statement
I am currently working on a body of work about gatekeeping, In particular, the gatekeepers of women’s rights. I am particularly concerned with what it means to be a woman, the exclusion of some women from spaces they are entitled to inhabit, and the erosion of women’s rights throughout the world. I love Greek mythology, especially strong Greek goddesses who don’t take any nonsense! I like to reimagine them in a contemporary way by setting them as modern day protagonists in my paintings , confronting those who seek to exclude women and staging them as protectors of women and their rights.
