About the art
Artist statement
HYPERLUMEN. Reminiscent of bacteria running rampant in a petri dish, but on a much larger scale, this piece celebrates light, life and the multitude of variables within each species, place and thing.
The flock of birds, visible in the bottom left of the image, reflect a sense of freedom and community as they traverse this scene of water vapour and light.
Dramatic in tone, which reflects my personality, this piece was inspired by the contrasts, movement and shapes in the dreamlike work of English painter JMW Turner and the surreal paintings of Salvador Dali.
While aware of shapes and light captured during the shoot, I often discover the soul of my work during the digital edit - when clouds and space become ethereal creatures guarding, playing or hunting in the skies.
Location: Newtownabbey, N. Ireland.
CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY signed by the artist supplied as separate item, that can be attached to rear of finished framed piece.
LIMITED EDITION PRINT on Hahnemuehle Pearl (silk finish) - 285gsm triple coated, lignin free, 100% alpha-cellulose paper. This superior fibre-based media has the look and feel of a traditional darkroom photo paper with a surface that is remarkably similar to a traditional silver gelatin double-weight photo paper.
