About the art
Artist statement
Like sbc 169 and 204, this painting applies acrylic to a polyester canvas, an extremely smooth surface that Cantrick finds particularly well-adapted for precise rendering and unique textural effects.
The diptych format is somewhat unusual in Cantrick’s output, providing a spatial break that provokes one of several hiccups in the continuity of space, perspective, and scale.
Please note that this artwork is made of 2 pieces that would need to be connected before hanging. Equipment and instructions provided.

Susan Cantrick is an American abstract painter whose primary interest is in painting as a structured visual response to sub-linguistic thinking. Her paintings are analogs of her pre-verbal perception that aim to be as articulate as possible, crystallizing the vitality and complexity of emergent cognition.
