About the art
Artist statement
"Saudade", the title of this artwork, is a very special word for the Portuguese people. In English it means something like "to miss someone or something", but very deeply, like "to deeply miss". This piece shows someone in their purest state, that is why nudity (which represents the way we are all born), missing something: family unity. The color is used to show fragility and at the same time a huge power.
Contemporary reinterpretation of the Arraiolos technique, giving it a new aesthetics and uses.
Exclusively handmade.
