About the art
Artist statement
The essence of the game is presented to me as follows. This is a set of factors - the theme and plot, the tasks they dictate, the defined algorithm and method of action of participants, the supposed changes in the course of events in response to the actions of players. The game implies the need to make decisions, including from the category of moral choices, and they directly affect the plot and finale.
I’ve been thinking about this. Everyone wants to believe that in the future his or her life will be better, the world will become brighter, etc. And here the questions arise: are we sufficiently concerned to be conscious in our actions? Do we notice how they affect our lives, change contexts and environments, or does it look like something that’s beyond our control?
The child does not often plan a story, and the final of the game may not be known in advance. And each action, often unconscious, is also able to change the environment, events, and, accordingly, the end. But the child can learn to see the interaction of factors, the chain of connections, to analyze, to trust experience and knowledge, and to make informed decisions. When it comes to play and children, this ability seems obvious. But isn’t the child in the game a reflection of the adult in his life?
