About the art
Artist statement
Along with being aesthetically pleasing, Tarini Ahuja’s work provides the viewer with a sense of positivity and peace. She aims to create, through her paintings a space for solace and reflection, an escape from the mundane. Her tendency to romanticize reality leads to whimsical and serene abstract landscapes. Colour mixing is a very important and cathartic part of her process, she spends days mapping out colours and creating elaborate palettes. She works with slowness, complete awareness, and constant reflection as the process of painting for her is a deep exploration into the mesmeric language of abstraction. She creates scenarios and problems which only she can solve. She builds structures and simultaneously obliterates them. While painting she intuitively layers paint exposing and covering marks. The essence of Wabi-Sabi lies in the beauty that is found in the unplanned and imperfect, the struggle to have control while anticipating that beauty that comes from the impulsive, the moment in which a single stroke can be perfect in its imperfection.
