About the art
Artist statement
This acrylic painting on stretched canvas is inspired by rice terrace landscapes, Japanese art patterns, local California flowers (local to the artist), and nature in general. The overall theme is to bring luck, good fortune, serenity, and balance. It is enhanced by the use of various green hues found from jade gem stones.
There is a play on 'maru mon' patterns that you can see from use of circles and some floral work in a round shape. A heavy use of a version of 'seigaiha' is also found throughout. Lastly, there are ebb and flows within the abstract landscape which allow various parts of the painting to intertwine between background and foreground.
