Signal of Stillness captures a solitary orange flag glowing softly at the end of a rugged stone path, set against the dark expanse of sea and sky. Photographed during the fleeting moment when storm clouds briefly parted, the flag offers a quiet contrast to the vast, brooding atmosphere above.
Hours of observation led to the precise moment when light emerged, illuminating the flag and guiding the viewer’s eye along the uneven stones. The expansive sky looms overhead, amplifying the contrast between the flag’s quiet presence and the overwhelming scale of the natural world.
The archival pigment print preserves the depth of shadows and the delicate glow of light, capturing the rough textures of the stones and the soft movement of the flag with clarity. Post-production enhanced the interplay of light and shadow, adding a painterly quality while staying true to the moment.
