Artist statement
An architectural symmetrical panoramic image of the derelict facade of Desert Inn in Beatty, Nevada.
We passed this motel in Beatty as we were making our way to Rhyolite in Nevada on a road-trip back in July 2008. I've always been fond of the various motels and their signs in the US and found this one particularly stark and graphic, so I quickly got out of the car and got a couple of snaps of it. The tight crop makes for a very impactful composition.
Beautifully Giclée printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag paper with an illustrative/ painted feel.
Technology: Epson UltraChrome HDR Wide Gamut Inks with archival life expectancy: 40 years daylight, 200 years in dark.
