Artist statement
"March 11,2011 I was at the airport in San Francisco boarding for Tokyo when we got word that a Tsunami had hit and they were suspending flights to Japan until the damage could be assessed. I immediately changed my flight and went to Sydney Australia instead. After recovering from jet lag, I heard there were large wave warnings all over Australia from the Japanese Tsunami 4500 miles away. I headed for Bondi Beach and was blown away by the waves hitting Bondi’s infamous Iceburg’s Swim Club. I love the local’s indifference as they kept swimming regardless of the 40 foot waves smashing the pools.
