Artist statement
Title : 4th Layers.
The fourth piece in my limited series of -The Layers -. This piece uses the same shapes and palette as the previous three in the series. For this addition I have increased the depth with another layer. The colours have now been restricted to edging the shapes that carry shades of grey in place of the block colours.
The sides of each shape have just a wash of colour retaining some detail of the birch layers in the ply.
Also for this piece I've moved away from a back board to reach a more free form sculpture.
A joyful piece of work in shape and colour.
Cut by hand from premium birch ply.
Painted in acrylic.
This piece measures:
Height: 21 1/4 inches (54cm)
Width: 15 1/2 inches (39cm)
Depth: 4 inches (10cm)
I have installed a recessed keyhole slot on the back. The piece is ready to hang with just one screw in a wall. The keyhole hanging method also allows the piece to hang flush and secure to the wall.
I have signed and dated the artwork on the back.
