Artist statement
Two layers of wood one fixed upon the other. This is the sister piece to Objectify II. These pieces explore how solid shapes can express fluidity. Strongly contrasting oranges and blues differentiate the two layers.
The sheets of wood create a three dimensional element and this is accentuated by the spaces within the work. So, here we find the wall where the piece is hung becomes the backdrop of the sculpture.
My fascination with disregarding the frame or conventional rectangle/square is at play here. I've retained the corners but I've allowed the rest of the outside lines to break, curve or continue straight.
A single recessed keyhole slot is installed on the back, the piece is ready to hang. The keyhole hanging method also allows the piece to hang flush to the wall.
