Stool inspired by an old Korean phrase “When the tiger used to smoke” meaning “once upon a time”, and humor from folk paintings of bunnies holding the pipe for the tiger in horror. Jasoo – Korean embroidery is one of the representative oriental embroidery and has all the general characteristics of oriental embroidery. This piece is a collaboration of two generations – the
embroidery is done by Bokhee Gwak, a skillful craftsman in Gyeonggi-do.

When Tiger Used to Smoke: Collection implies the idea of long-term sustainability by working with masters of each field who deserve much more recognition and incorporating modern furniture design with our traditional culture to make it more approachable.

As Korean designers they believe that their culture has far more to offer than Kpop and K-dramas. The designers want to go beyond the conventional representation of traditional craft techniques, they would like to propose a new way of looking from a new perspective combined with the contemporary aesthetics that they pursue.
