About the art
Artist statement
This painting/collage is about fleeting moments and nostalgia that inevitably ensues subsequent to the realization that all moments and thus life itself is slipping by quickly. Completing this piece during the few days of full moon in September, the thought that we're all just passing through became more and more prominent, as the absurdity of our amnesia of this very clear fact made me want to capture the thought in this visual form. My work has always been about fully dedicating each moment to the craftsmanship itself, and creating this piece in particular was a reminder for me to live in that aware and alert space as much as possible. The process involved making this work entails layering several pieces of color paper, gluing them together, and peeling them off in both horizontal and vertical directions once the surface dried.
